Speech

Excitement bubbled in my stomach as I felt the metal bar strap me in my seat. The metal
was cool, and I could feel it radiate in my palms. The seat was warm of course because of the
people who had been there earlier, as well as the heat of the sun. It was dark, but when the
coaster starts moving, I am greeted to a flash of light as we are moved outside. Then the
coaster started moving up the hill, and I felt the pull of gravity fighting against the cars that
were packed with people, including me. “What a nice day…” I thought as I felt the warm sun
caress my face. A brown bird flew overhead, singing its sweet, melodic song. Even with the sun
out, a cool , gentle breeze eased away the heat… And then a thick, heavy dread settled in the
pit of my stomach like an enormous rock as I looked over the track. “Oh dear… This was a lot
higher up than I imagined.” I thought darkly. When we finally reached the top, as it turned out, I
was near the front, and had an unpleasant view of the leap down. “Oh my God… I’m going to
die.” With wide eyes, I suddenly felt a wicked sense of vertigo overcome me as he shot like a
bullet down. Ice cold wind exploded and howled into my face, drowning out my screams as we
careened down, down, down into the ground.

Conclusion- I learned that I hated roller coasters. But really, I learned to never just jump into
anything without seriously considering the consequences of such an action.
