Focus:

-Level 1 Rhythmic and Tonal Exercises

Materials:
-Jingle Bells Sheet Music
-Rhythm cards
-Musescore sight reading scores

Context:
Student is a 3rd grader struggling with basic rhythmic and tonal issues. Student also needs help
with a Christmas solo they want to sing at their church.

Behavioral Objectives:
At the conclusion of this lesson, the student will be able to:
-read Level 1 rhythm patterns
-echo-translate level 1 tonal/rhythm patterns
-perform Jingle Bells with accuracy and musicality

Procedure:

VT (15 minutes)
-Start standing and proper posture
-breathing exercises (in 4 out 8,12,16 and then in 2, out 8,12,16) on ‘shh’
-siren warm ups
-curwen hand signs. Echo and then Echo translate
-rhythm cards

ML (15 Minutes)
-look at Jingle Bells (https://www.pianosongdownload.com/jinglebellsfreemusic.html)
-practice clapping/speaking rhythm on takadimi

-practice focusing on pitches and rhythm and having fun with the piece.
