Mrs. Morris’s Class

Hello!

This school year, we have been given the opportunity to incorporate assistive technology
in our classroom! Our county has donated phones to the classroom to help accommodate
the needs of students.

I have put together a simple user guide for 5 of the features that I can foresee us using
the most during class.

We will be using the Apple iPhone 11. The operating software version is iOS 14.41.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns!!

Thank you,

Mrs. Morris

been donated to our
school.
DICTATION
-Once the dictation feature has
been set up, students will be
able to speak into the phone.
Students can speak into the
built in microphone, and words
will appear instead of students
having to spell, read and type.
Punctuation and even emojis can
be used using dictation. The
dictation can be used for many
different features of the
phone, including emails, notes,
text messages and any other
downloadable apps that utilize
text. On any keyboard, look for
the microphone symbol on
bottom right, and push to talk.
SIRI

-Siri is a voice activated feature

on the iPhone. Using Siri will allow
students to open applications, make
phone calls or send messages by
simply using their voice.
DISPLAY & TEXT SIZE

-This feature allows you

to adjust the font size of
words. The size can be
adjusted in notes, phone,
messages, and other apps
that support this feature.
HEARING DEVICES

-This feature allows hearing

devices to connect to the iphone.
Audio that would be heard from
the phone can be heard through
headphones or an individualized
hearing aid.
GUIDED ACCESS

This application can help

learners stay on task by
temporarily blocking access to
other applications on the
device. This can be used in the
classroom to ensure that
students are only able to
access options that are
relevant to a task. This can
also be used to limit how long a
student uses a particular app
or the device.
