Handout water pollution

What is water pollution?

When E-waste, plastic or toxic waste get in leaks or the ocean.

What are the problems of water pollution for the Ocean?

Fish and other animals in the ocean think that the plastic is plankton. But it is forever in there
stomach and so they die.

The toxic waste is destroying the coral reefs. Because it change the PH value.

What are the problems for the humans?

One of the biggest problems is that many people most times in poor countries have no clean drinking
water.

Also we are eating the fishes that have eaten micro plastic. The plastic is also not very healthy for
the people how are eating this fishes.

How is dumping his waste in the ocean?

The most of the water pollution is out of seven leaks and everyone is flooding in the oceans.

This leaks are in poor countries and they are producing so much waste because it is for the industry
there much more cheaper to dump there waste in the leaks then filtering it. That only functions
because the government made there no laws against water pollution.

This countries are not the only polluter. Also many people trough there toxic junk in leaks. Because it
is very expensive to recycle the old colours or oil.

What can be done against water pollution?

Use toxic products less and longer, buy local produced products because here the industry must
follow the laws of the government so they must filtered the toxic substance out of the water before
they let the water flow bag in the leaks

What is water pollution?

Water pollution means the water is contaminated with toxic elements caused by human influence.
For example if we humans dump chemicals in a lake it gets contaminated and uninhabitable for other
lifeforms. This state can be accuired in many ways e.g. by dumping radioactive waste or plastics in water
sources.

What are the problems?

If the water is contaminated by chemicals or other toxic elements such as radioactive substances it basically
becomes uninhabitable for any lifeform. Many coral reeves get annihilated in that certain way because the PH-
Value changes (Scale of how basic or acidic the water is)
If the water is contaminated by plasic waste it is still inhabitable, but the plastic takes centuries to dissolve and
before it is completely dissolved it turns into harmful and toxic microplastics, which fish and other lifeform eat
because they think they are eating plankton.

What are the problems for humans?

Humans only real problem with this is, that they dont have healthy consumable water, which we need to
survive. One other more minor problem is that we consume fish with microplastic inside them. That causes us
to have the microplastic in our bodies which is toxic for us.

How is water pollution caused ?

Water pollution is often caused in poor countries where there are many factories that arend controlled properly.
For the company its cheaper to get rid of their waste by dumping it into a river or an ocean then to recycle it.
Another problem is everyone at beaches who just leave their trash lying around. This might seem unimportant
but if millions do this its one hell of a problem.

What can we do against it ?

We can prevent this from happening by just not buying products in plastic containers, whic can end up in
oceans. Furthermore we can try to tighten the laws on recycling so far that every factory has to keep a record
of their recyclings aswell as stricter controlling of water sources near factories.
