Supplier’s recommendation

Follow the cleaning procedures and use the phosphor plate cleaner
recommended by the manufacturer.
Check expiry date.
Clean with solution on both sides of IP with an interval of 15-20 min in
between.
Cleaning frequency depends on patient volume, plate handling, and/or
frequency of which artefacts are found.
Cleaner should not be poured directly onto the phosphor as this may
cause staining.
Damage may be caused by improper handling, such as contact with wet
or dirty hands, hand lotion and sanitizers, or non-approved cleaners.
Imaging plates and cassettes should be inspected monthly for damage
and proper closure.
Once it has been cleaned, put the plate through an erasure cycle.
Digital detectors have a very wide dynamic range.
Phosphor plates store background exposure, thus IP’s should be erased
if unused ≥ 48 hours.
Failure to erase plates may result in initial images after a time gap
exhibiting reduced contrast.
This is especially critical in pediatrics where inherent anatomical contrast
is low.
Ensure that CR cassettes and Image Plates are numbered and that a
cassette/IP history is kept.
