Climate change and Global Warming

1. What is the greenhouse effect? The greenhouse effect is a natural process that
warms the Earth's surface.

2. Where do greenhouse gases come from? The largest source of greenhouse gas
emissions from human activities in the United States is from burning fossil fuels
for electricity, heat, and transportation.

3. What is the difference between “climate change” and “global warming”?

Global warming is having higher temperature but climate change is “Climate
change” refers to the increasing changes in the measures of climate over a long
period of time

4. Is our planet warming? If so, why?Yes because we have more pollution

5. How does the global ocean temperature change for the previous 30 years
compare to the global ocean temperature change for the last 100 years?

6. How do scientists calculate future climate change predictions? To predict future

climate, scientists use computer programs called climate models to understand
how our planet is changing.

7. How will a warming climate affect temperature extremes? extreme weather

events such as heat waves and large storms are likely to become more intense
with human induced climate change.
8. What is the relationship between hurricanes and a warming of the oceans? The
rising of warm, moist air from the ocean helps to power the storm. Two other
factors may also be contributing to the rising intensities of hurricanes.

9. List some significant impacts which could result from drastic climate change.
Increased heat, drought and insect outbreaks, all linked to climate change, have
increased wildfires. Declining water supplies, reduced agricultural yields,
health impacts in cities due to heat, and flooding.

II. Discuss the impact of climate change in Indonesia. You can add pictures to support
your answers.

Indonesia is the world's fifth largest emitter of greenhouse gases, mainly due to the
conversion of its forests and carbon-rich peatlands. Indonesia must balance these
environmental and social goals with a rapidly growing economy based on natural
resources and corporate interests.
