Reflection Paper on Deliryo sa El Niño

The play tackles the contrast between the rich and the poor, as well as the dynamics
between the innocent and the evil, and love and sexuality. Magic and fantasy, in the form
of Filipino folklore is used to tie the story together, and as a device to move the story
forward in a fun way.

The play shows that we can all be equal in the face of love and compassion, that the rich
and the poor can come together. That in the end love wins, even if it is portrayed as
something frail, as it is easily tampered with by the people of the forest, it still wins. The
play also shows that fighting for what you believe can yield results, that it can cause
change to your surroundings.

Personally, the story that the play portrays, where the main characters struggle and fight
for what they believe in, for what they love, resonates with me. As someone who often
lacks confidence, the play shows that overcoming the fear of judgement, and fighting to
remain yourself, can bring about change to you, and to those around you.
