The curriculum
❖ The lessons that I saw were not all the same subject but they were all very
engaging and it was interesting to see the teacher make lessons interesting in
their own way.
❖ There was a good amount of student centered teaching. As well as teacher
centered teaching.
Classroom scenery
★ For the most part regardless or the grade every teacher had posters and
pictures and charts on their walls.
★ I noticed in the lower grades the classrooms were always very colorful and in
the higher grades the classrooms still had color but they were less childlike and
more neutral tones with charts on the walls.
★ I liked how all the teachers have their one way of decorating their classroom
and you can see some thing that show what they are as a teacher.
Classroom culture
I saw that there were different types of classrooms and some were very diverse and
some were less so. Despite the differing levels of diversity I thought it was great
that the teachers were able to involve different cultures and information of these
diverse people into the classroom. A teacher brought the families to talk to the class
and another had the students have journals to write about their experiences and
family history. I thought that was a really good way to include all students and to
inform students about different cultures or about their own.
Teaching techniques
I again learned many new techniques that I will be using in my future classroom.
Some of which are:
★ Having things pertaining to the lesson that students can feel and look at.
★ Having the students keep a journal that they could use as a scrapbook to talk
about their history and family or just their lives
★ Having a morning meeting where students can share something that happened
that they want to tell the class about.
★ Having small reading groups where i sit down and hear the students discuss
while also helping them thoroughly communicate their thoughts and ideas.
