Teaching is not a job, it is a privilege that is rewarded to those strong enough to fight for

it. Walking into a classroom, knowing that so many students are going to look towards me for
guidance, is a gift that is beyond words. I started this journey because I wanted to change as
many lives as I could, and teaching allows me a chance to reach young minds and hearts. I am
fiercely protective of my students and look at each of them as individuals, worthy of all I am able
to give them educationally.
I do not place boxes of expectations before my students and demand that they try to force
themselves into them. I believe that students are as unique as snowflakes falling from the winter
sky, and they must be celebrated for it.
A teaching strategy that I believe is imperative to the fostering of my students’ minds is
creating a stimulating environment in my classroom. I use my flare for dramatics to transform
my classroom into a different world as students walk through my door. From Florentine streets to
scenic beach towns, I do everything in my power to give my students an experience that they will
remember. Playing calming sounds to tie in my synthetic environment, I strive to always remind
my students that this world is bigger than they could imagine, and that learning is so much more
than computer screens and textbooks.
Education is not memorizing equations, but learning to love learning. As a role model for
my students, I always enter a classroom with never-ending excitement and passion. My students
will understand and replicate this excitement when I take the factors of stress out of teaching.
Finally, I teach my students to be creative and explore the capabilities of their wondrous
mind. Who am I to tell students how their own brains should perform? I am a guide, helping my
students realize that they can, and they will, do anything they set their minds to. By promoting
growth mindsets, I can help alleviate the pressure from my students’ shoulders when it comes to
classwork and performance expectations.
