TYPES/KINDS OF COMMUNICATION The different types of communication are as follows : 1. Intrapersonal Communication. This is the process of thinking and feeling that goes on in the mind of an individual. This kind of communication helps a person to give shape to personal concepts, opinions, views, attitudes, etc. It helps a person to arrive at new ideas, solve problems and arrive at decisions. 2. Interpersonal Communication. This involves interaction between two persons or a small group. This interaction is on one-on-one basis. Face-to-face interaction helps a person to open up and discuss matters. Brainstorming sessions, staff meetings and briefings are some examples. 3. Organizational Communication. To survive and function, an organization relies heavily on communication. It is vital for an organisation to have a good communication network. The entire functioning depends on effective communication, whether it is board meetings, departmental briefings, informing about new policies, etc. 4. Social Communication. Conversations, sharing of ideas, discussing news, exchanging pleasantries, making small talk, etc., are all a part of social communication. Social communication requires knowledge of social etiquette and an awareness of social skills. 5. Mass Communication. Press releases, interviews vo ue media, anny are all a part of disseminating news about the ic. The information should be of interest to the internet all have a wide reach as each is q reports, newsletters, etc., organization to the publ masses. Television, radio, medium of mass communication. 6. Corporate Communication. This communication is for employees, dealers, shareholders, other business houses. This work is carried out by various departments such as advertising; public relations, sales and marketing, finance, production, planning, etc. Each employee has to play a dynamic role in communication. 7. Group Communication. This kind of communication takes place when meetings are held to discuss issues that affect the lives of many. Group discussions on a certain topic are a part of group communication. An open environment for discussion helps in open exchange of thoughts.
