The permeability cell shall consist cof a metal* cylinder made in two flanged parts which are bolted together, containing a perforated plate on whi supported a medium filter-papert 32 mm in diameter. The joint botweon the flanges is rendered airtight by means of a rubber or other suitable gasket. The perm ability cell is provided with a plunger by means of which the cement sample is formed, as described below, into a ‘cylindrical bed supported by the filter paper. The capillary tube of the flowmeter shall have @ bore of not les than 0.5 mm and its dimensions shall be such that the flowmeter constant C (as defined in 4.2) fs between 20 x 10"! and 40 x 10" metric units. Checking ofthe dimensions of the permeability cell, Check the dimensions of the cell when the apparatus is received, and after every 60 determinations, by suitable means. The depth of the bed space may be conveniently measured by using atest piece of hardened steel, | of diameter D — 0.2 mm and 10.10 + 0.03 mm deep to simulate the cemnent bed.
