Irregular Past Verbs

 Called irregular because the verbs don’t end with -d/-ed (while regular verbs
end with -d/-ed)
 Aims to talk about things happened in the past. It began and ended in the past.
 Applied for all subjects (all nouns).

Examples:
 Wilson bought five cups of milk tea for us yesterday.
(verb 1 = buy) (adverb/time marker)

 One of three fishermen heard a very loud explosion. He thought it was a bomb.
(hear) (think) (is)

He and others said they didn’t see a plane crash into the sea.
(say) (don’t see)

How to Make Sentences using Irregular Past Verbs

Affirmative (+)
subject + verb 2 + ….
Valent drew a map of Riau last week.

Negative (-)
subject + didn’t + verb 1 + ….
Valent didn’t draw a map of Riau last week.

Question (?)
Did + subject + verb 1 + …. ?
Did Valent draw a map of Riau last week?
(√) Yes, he did.
(X) No, he didn’t.

Wh- question
 Wh- + did + subject + verb 1 + ….?
When did Felix move to the ...?
Where did the teachers watch the ...?
What animal did Rara picture ....?
Why did Mum and Dad scold you?
How did you know it?
