Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

I am currently going to school with the hopes of becoming a high school teacher and after

completing my Associates, I will be transferring to UNLV. This praxis exam will allow me to get

into the education program there where I can finish my bachelor’s degree. The passing scores for

the praxis exams are 156 for reading, 162 for writing, and 150 for math.

Exam Preparation

Unfortunately for myself, I did not do much preparation for these tests. I read about the

exam in all of the links that were provided though, so I did understand what I was getting myself

into and what the tests were for. However, I did not feel like the tests were that difficult, but

there is a lot I could do to be better prepared.

Exam Results

My highest scoring test was in math, with me getting an 89%, meaning I am very likely

to pass. The second highest would be the writing test, as I received an 80%. This also means that

I am very likely to pass. I received a 66% for the reading portion, which means I need

improvement. When I viewed the diagnostics, it looked like the details and main ideas of the

texts I read were the biggest struggle for me.

Future Exam Preparation

Most likely, I will be using the free praxis website that we used to improve my skills for

the exam. This would be because I don’t have a lot of money to spend on a lot of things and I

would rather make the most out of what I can get for free. The website also looks like it provides
just enough help to give me the edge I need. Also, because the reading portion was my only

weak point, I could spend more energy trying to improve those skills and the rest will be okay

for me.
