SAP IBP Integrated Business Planning

The main components of the integration add-on are as follows:

● Integration model

● BAdIs to overrule the standard integration logic

● Transactions for triggering the collection of data from SAP S/4HANA

● Transaction to maintain transportation lanes and collect them for transfer to IBP.
You can change certain attributes of automatically generated transportation lanes
and maintain (create, change, delete) additional transportation lanes manually.

● Transaction to maintain certain location material attributes

● Transaction to create, change, or delete SAP S/4HANA orders sent from IBP

● Extractors to transfer master data to time-series based planning to SAP integrated

Business Planning using SAP Cloud Platform Integration for data services (CPI-DS)

● BAdIs to enhance the master data replicated to time-series based planning using
extractors and CPI-DS

How Does the Integration Work?

The SAP S/4HANA, supply chain integration add-on for SAP Integrated Business
Planning collects master data, transactional data, and configuration data from an SAP
S/4HANA system. The data collection process works as follows:

● In SAP S/4HANA, data is collected and transformed into a simplified format and stored
in database tables.

● The content of the tables can be transferred to IBP via SAP HANA Smart Data
Integration (SDI) and the OpenAPI.

● Some master data also can be transferred to IBP time-series-based planning using
extractors and SAP Cloud Platform Integration for data services (CPI-DS).

● The data transferred using SDI becomes available for use in order-based planning.

● The data transferred using CPI-DS becomes available for use in time-series-based
planning.

The SAP S/4HANA, supply chain integration add-on for SAP Integrated Business
Planning also enables creation of orders integrated back from IBP to SAP S/4HANA.
The data collection process is described below.

In SAP S/4HANA, data is collected and transformed into a simplified format and stored
in database tables.

The content of the tables can be transferred to IBP via SAP HANA Smart Data
Integration (SDI) and the OpenAPI.

Some master data also can be transferred to IBP time-series-based planning using
extractors and SAP Cloud Platform Integration for data services (CPI-DS).

The data transferred using SDI becomes available for use in order-based planning.

The data transferred using CPI-DS becomes available for use in time-series-based
planning.
Integration Model
SAP IBP Integrated Business Planning

The integration model controls the collection of master data, transactional data, and
configuration data from SAP S/4HANA to IBP, defining the range of data to be
collected. You can specify the plants and material requirements planning (MRP) types
that you want to collect in Customizing tables, so that only those materials and
dependent info records, production data structures, orders, and stock data belonging
to the customized plants and MRP types are collected.

The BAdI /IBP/ECC_MODEL_CHECK is available to overrule the standard collection

defined in the integration model. For example, if you want to collect different
attributes for materials, you can specify these in the BAdI.

SAP HANA Smart Data Integration

SAP HANA Smart Data Integration (SDI) is used to transfer the data from SAP
S/4HANA to IBP order-based planning. Your system administrator connects your IBP
system and the source SAP S/4HANA system via SDI, and then administers the data
transfer via an application job in order-based planning using OpenAPI.

SAP Cloud Platform Integration for Data Services

SAP Cloud Platform Integration for data services (CPI-DS) is used to transfer the data
from SAP S/4HANA to IBP time-series-based planning. You need to do the following:

1. Activate the extractors (data sources) in SAP S/4HANA

2. Install and configure the SAP Data Services Agent

3. Configure the technical connections between the agent and CPI-DS and between the
agent and the SAP S/4HANA system

4. Define data sources and data flows in CPI-DS

5. Plan the integration jobs either in IBP or in CPI-DS

Maintaining Master Data

Transactions are available to maintain the following master data types:

SAP IBP Integrated Business Planning

● Transportation lanes generated from SAP S/4HANA master data. You can set

procurement priorities and create new transportation lanes in IBP.

● Location material settings (forecast consumption and allocation profile)

BAdIs are available to modify the transformed data before saving it into the database.

Making Transferred Data Available in IBP Order-Based Planning

To make the external master data transferred from SAP S/4HANA available in your IBP
planning area, you need to configure the planning area appropriately. A sample
planning area, SAP7, is also available for you to use when building your planning area.

Setting Up IBP Planning Area for Time-Series-Based Planning

A prerequisite to map the master data provided by extractors in SAP S/4HANA, supply
chain integration add-on for SAP Integrated Business Planning is to define a fitting
planning area in IBP. The mapping templates in CPI-DS are based on the sample unified
planning area SAP BP1SAPIBP1, but they also can be adapted to most other sample
planning areas, except for SAP7 and SAP74.

Monitoring the Data Integrated Using SAP HANA Smart Data

Integration (SDI)

You can monitor the data transferred from SAP S/4HANA using an application job
available from the SAP Fiori Launchpad. SAP Fiori apps are also available to view the
transferred data so that you can check it.
