Kenneth Bruce Gorelick

We choose Kenny G because, personally, as I am, he is a professional saxophone player

and I look up to him. I came across him when I was studying saxophone in 2003.
Born in Seattle, 1956, the american musician known as Kenny G, started his professional
career when he was 17 playing as a sideman for Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra in
1973. But his first contact with the instrument was when he was 10 years old.

In 1982, after inking a deal with Arista Records, Kenny G released his self-titled debut album.
His next two albums, G Force (1983) and Gravity (1985), continued his upward trajectory, but it
was his fourth studio album, Duotones (1986), that made the saxophonist an international star.

Interesting facts:

1. Despite his pretty outstanding sax skills, Kenny enrolled at the University of
Washington and studied accounting

2. His sixth album, Breathless (1992) that became the bestselling instrumental
album of all time

3. - The musician also once set a world record in 1997 for playing the longest
continuous note on a saxophone. Using a technique called circular breathing, in
which he can inhale air and play at the same time, Kenny G maintained an E-flat
for an astonishing 45 minutes and 47 seconds

4. - Kenny G is also incredibly popular in China. One of the reasons why? “Going
Home,” a song recorded for a 1989 live album, is used to signal the end of
business hours at train stations, shopping malls, health clubs, and other locations
all across the country.
Conclusion
His music has inspired a lot of people to become saxophone players and also has been
played all around the world, is very hard to see someone that have never heard one song.
During his long career, he's also performed with Barbra Streisand, Whitney Huston, Burt
Bacharach and Frank Sinatra.
