Being a public official is not easy.

As a public servant, you are expected to fulfill your

promises and duty to the people with integrity, honesty, dedication, and love for the
country. If I were a public official sticking up to my principles even if others are not can be
very tempting, knowing that those people can get away with it and never get punished.
However I will not be like them, I won’t let my greediness overpower my conscience. I will
stick to my principles, because if I didn’t then I am being selfish. Although I don’t see
anything wrong with prioritizing one's self-interest but not to the expense of others. People
work hard every day just to pay their taxes. So it is very unfair to spend their money for my
own sake. I believe in the idea of Altruism and I don’t think it’s for the weak like Friedrich
Neitzsche’s claim. It’s hard to be selfless in the world full of selfishness hence it is not for the
weak but for those who have a strong heart. Besides good leaders will always give more for
others and less for themselves.
