Proximity Sensor Connection Guide

Proximity sensors can connect to a PLC input module in two ways: current-sourcing (PNP) where the load is between the sensor and ground, or current-sinking (NPN) where the load is between the positive supply and sensor. A bleeder resistor allows enough current for the sensor to operate but not enough to turn on the PLC input, and connects a proximity sensor continuously to a PLC input module.
