The Writing process

Divided in sixteen sections which will be combined and given a brief overview.
Introduction
When writing an academic paper as a non-native English speaker it’s certainly
disadvantageous not having knowledge related to the norms and elements that apply or can
be applied when creating or writing said paper, so in the chapter “The writing process”
from the book: “Academic Writing A handbook for International Students” from the writer
Stephen Bailey there are:
Some guidelines, exercises and recommendations related to how you should and could use
the different tools that already exist when writing an academic paper, while also shedding
light into some things that may appear to be unknown to the majority of people (like the
reason as to when and why do you use things like Italics (For titles and words from other
languages)) how useful paraphrasing can be and how to avoid plagiarism which in itself can
be quite a serious offense.
What are the key words within a text and how to elaborate on that is also explained here, in
addition to this, there’s also clear instructions in how to summarize different texts or papers
so that there can be a connection topic-wise and offer support to your thesis contained
within your academic paper.
There’s also the matter of elaborating certain topics that are presented and explained within
a section of this chapter to then later on be explained in more detail, like paraphrasing, the
organization of a text and the use of summaries.
In conclusion, the objective of this chapter is to make people aware of how much they can
improve their writing skills by reading about different elements and tactics that can be
applied when writing while also encouraging the honing of said skills to improve one’s
proficiency and keep on improving.
