Race- refers to a person's physical characteristics, such as bone structure and


skin, hair, or eye color.
2. Racism- a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits
and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority
of a particular race
3. Ethnicity- is a concept referring to a shared culture and a way of life. This can
be reflected in language, religion, material culture such as clothing and cuisine,
and cultural products such as music and art.
4. Ethnic identity- refers to a person’s social identity within a larger context based on membership in a
cultural or social group.
5. Ethnic disparities- Racial and ethnic disparity refers to unequal treatment of
youth of color in the juvenile justice system. RED results in disparate
outcomes for similarly situated youth. Disparate treatment can happen at all
stages of the juvenile justice system, from arrest, summons, processing,
arraignment, detention and commitment.
6. Ethnocentrecism- evaluation of other cultures according to preconceptions originating in the standards
and customs of one's own culture.
7. Values- In ethics, value denotes the degree of importance of some thing or action, with the aim of
determining what actions are best to do or what way is best to live (normative ethics), or to describe the
significance of different actions.
