Ice Melters

Question

Which substance will melt ice quicker?



Materials

▪ Four ice cubes of the same size

▪ One teaspoon

▪ Vodka

▪ Clorox

▪ Vinegar

▪ Timer

▪ Four wine glasses



Procedure

▪ Place one ice cube on each wine glass.

▪ Pour one teaspoon of vinegar on one ice


cube.

▪ Pour one teaspoon of Clorox on one


ice cube.

▪ Pour one teaspoon of vodka on one ice


cube.

▪ Leave one ice cube plain.

▪ Begin the timer.

▪ At the end of forty minutes see which ice


cube is the most melted.

I think Clorox will melt ice quicker because


it is the most acidic.

In my experiment my hypothesis was
wrong . Vodka melted the ice the
quickest.
