The following conditions are almost similarly situated with some of the conditions set

forth under Article 9 of the Name Act of Taiwan. Article 9 (6) of the Name Act of Taiwan, which
states that “the person may change his name if the applicant’s given name is unflattering or has
an excessively long Romanized form, or there are other special considerations”. The counterpart
under RA 9048 refers to the condition that “petitioner finds the first name or nickname to be
ridiculous, tainted with dishonor or extremely difficult to write or pronounce.”
