A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR

ACCREDITATION WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT OF

ORMOC (LGU), IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS

OF ORDINANCE NO. 009 DATED OCTOBER 16, 2014 OF

THE ORMOC FRUIT VENDORS ASSOCIATION (OFVA).

WHEREAS, it can be recalled that this Sanggunian has enacted Ordinance

No. 009 dated October 16, 2014 entitled: “AN ORDINANCE REGULATING

THE ACCREDITATION OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS (CSOs) IN THE

CITY OF ORMOC” which governs the procedures for accreditation of

legitimate organizations in this City;

WHEREAS, Section 2.1 of the same Ordinance provides among others that

an organization may still be accredited after the prescribed sixty – day (60)

period within which applications for accreditation for membership in the

Local Special Bodies by any organization shall be accepted, for purposes

other than representation to the Local Special Bodies;

WHEREAS, this august Body is in receipt of an application for accreditation of

the aforementioned CSO;

WHEREAS, OFVA, duly registered with the Department of Labor and

Employment on 22 February 2017, is an organization of fruit vendors which

seeks to develop a sustainable livelihood among its members through the

conduct of activities with the aim of uplifting the economic condition of its

members;

WHEREAS, this Sanggunian, after thorough review of the aforementioned

application for accreditation, finds that the same is in order, and the

purposes of the sought accreditation are all directed to promote socio-

economic development among its members through the establishment of a

strong linkage with the City Government in order for each organization to

have a better access to the diverse programs and projects of the

government that are beneficial to all sectors of the community;

WHEREAS, FURTHER, this august Body deems the application to be lawful

being in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 009 hence, most

deserving of favorable action by this Sanggunian;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion of Sangguniang Panlungsod Member

Roiland H. Villasencio, Chairman, Committee on Cooperatives and

Accreditation of Non-Government Organizations, duly seconded by

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to pass A RESOLUTION

APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR ACCREDITATION WITH THE

LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT OF ORMOC (LGU), IN ACCORDANCE

WITH THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 009 DATED

OCTOBER 16, 2014 OF THE ORMOC FRUIT VENDORS

ASSOCIATION (OFVA).

RESOLVED, FURTHER, to furnish copies of this resolution each to the

Honorable City Mayor Richard Frank I. Gomez; the City Administrator; the

City Legal Officer; the OIC – CLGOO of DILG – Ormoc; the President of

the respective civil society organizations seeking for accreditation; and

others concerned.
