you have visited or traveled
through in our state. (If you don’t
know where you visited is on the
map, plot best where you think it

What does it mean to be an active listener and
reader?
Active Listener: An active Listener Looks like…

● Respects the Teacher by not using their voices or chatting with friends
● Stays focused the entire time while the Teacher is speaking.
● Draws connections to what is being said to their personal lives & subjects they have or are learning about.
● Keeping a piece of paper to jot key ideas, or questions they have for the Teacher.

Active Reader: An active Reader Looks like...

● Annotating the text they are reading. (Underlining, Highlighting, Footnotes)


● Draws connections between the text and their own lives.
● Begins every reading with an open mind, ready to learn new ideas and concepts.
