Goodwill Community Service

While working at the Goodwill that’s next to the Boulevard Mall and John’s Incredible

pizza. When I first got to Goodwill it was right when it opened, I look for an employee to help

me know where the volunteers are supposed to go. We waited for any more volunteers to show

up then we head to the back through the double doors. We gave our names and sign the login

sheets they then instructed us to put on the green vest which was for volunteers.

We started right away because it was a busy day, lots of people were coming in I went to

the front and worked with the jewelry. When they wanted a certain piece of jewelry I would

place it in a basket and give them a ticket and take another piece of the same ticket I would tape

on the basket. I would also do the same thing with the tickets but when the customers would

bring big bags or backpacks they would have to leave them in the front. Once they were done or

they reached the registers they would give their tickets to the cashers and they would scan their

jewelry.

Goodwill is not only a great way of saving the environment but also changes many

people's lives. Where they also have such affordable prices when there are many low-income

families require certain clothing. They also have a great relationship with the community many

were have jokes with the employees and vice versa. They want many to have an equal

opportunities like many others do. Even when you donate you are able to receive a discount the

next time you shop at goodwill there are ways sales going on so you are able to save lots of

money.
