Running Head: MODULE 7 NEEDS ANALYSIS 2
Introduction
I have been recently hired to create a needs analysis by a company that owns various
nursing home facilities. In order to properly create a needs analysis, a few questions must be
answered beforehand to look at the situation that should be analyzed in order to determine the
desired change, identify who is requesting the change, the implementation of the change, and the
intervention.
In order to determine the change that the client wants, I must ask a few questions. The
first question is, what is the change being requested (including who is being asked to change and
what is currently taking place)? The change that is being requested is that the client has reported
various complaints from those living at the company’s nursing homes within the last six months.
The client wants for their residents to live comfortably at the nursing homes. In order for that to
happen, I must help to create a solution to lessen the complaints from the residents.
The second question is, what is currently taking place in this environment with this
individual or individual? In order to determine what is taking place in the environment that has
spiked an increase in complaints from the residents within the last six months, I must interview
the clients and understand their opinions on the situation at hand. After the interviews, I will
observe the nursing home facilities to get a better understanding of the conditions of the nursing
homes.
After determining the desired change of creating a more comfortable environment for the
nursing home residents, I must identify who is the request for the desired change is for. The

client, a company that owns various nursing home facilities is asking for the change of creating a
more comfortable environment for their residents. However, there are various stakeholders
involved. One party that is involved is the residents themselves because they live in the homes
and are requesting to the company that the comfort to be increased. The other party involved is
the staff because they work with the residents and create the environment in which the residents
live.
After I observe the locations, I will distribute Likert Scale surveys to the residents asking
them various questions about their comfort levels which would include questions about room
comfort, food, activities, etc. The scale would range from 1 – extremely uncomfortable to 5 –
extremely comfortable for each question. I will also distribute Likert Scale surveys to the staff
members of the nursing home facilities in order to gain a better understanding on how confident
that are on various factors of creating a comfortable environment for the residents. The scale
The next step is determining the implementation location of the desired change. This
change, which is increasing comfort levels, will take place in the various nursing home facilities
The Intervention
Next is to determine the intervention. After observing the nursing home locations and
analyzing the surveys from both the residents and the staff members, I have determined that the
staff is having difficulty meeting the needs of the residents. I have reported my data to the client
and we are now determining our next steps. In order to determine this, a question to be answered

is, is instruction the most appropriate means for bringing about the desired change? I believe
that instruction among the staff of the nursing home facilities is the most appropriate means for
bringing about this change. The staff is the most important component in creating a comfortable
living environment for the residents. The staff provides medical treatment, food, support, room
comfort, various activities, and friendship for the residents of the nursing homes. In order to
provide that instruction, we must gather subject matter experts (SMEs), or those who have
worked with the company the longest in the nursing homes and are extremely confident in
performing tasks that help raise the comfort levels of the residents to help the client and I create
instruction that target the various weak points of the staff members.
Conclusion
After determining the desired change, analyzing the request for the desired change,
establishing the implementation location of the desired change, and creating an intervention, it
can be concluded that a needs analysis was necessary for this task of creating a comfortable
environment for the residents of the nursing home facilities owned by the client. Needs analyses
are very important in determining what gaps there are in reaching a desired goal. In this case, the
gaps were the staff of the nursing homes and their confidence and knowledge on creating a
comfortable living environment for their residents. With the interventions being put into place,
the staff can increase their knowledge and confidence levels and create a more comfortable
learning environment for the nursing homes, leaving the clients satisfied.
