Virtual Site Visit – Cross Bay Link (Contract No. NE/2017/07)

Date, Time
Date - 29 May 2021 (Saturday), 09:30am –11:30am
Virtual Site Visit – Live streaming using Zoom

Virtual Site Visit Arrangement

In view of the uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic in Hong Kong, we had no choice but to postpone a number of site
visits which were scheduled earlier in the year. To maintain our continuous quality learning opportunities to our members and our
main theme of ‘Nurturing the Young’ while ensuring safety and wellness of all, we would like to launch an innovative initiative
“virtual site visit” for the upcoming site visits.

Through video streaming with LIVE commentary, virtual site visit provides the participants with the ability to view the venue on their
computer or mobile device at a safe place. Instead of simply looking at photos, the participants will be given a full walk-through
tour. It also allows interactive communication between participants and the site host with a live Q&A session. Your usual support
and enrolment is highly encouraged.

Programme Highlight
Cross Bay Link (CBL), Tseung Kwan O is a dual two-lane carriageway of about 1.8 kilometre long with a cycle track and a footpath,
including an about 1.0 kilometre long marine viaduct across Junk Bay and an about 0.8 kilometre long Road D9, connecting
Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel (TKO-LTT) currently under construction and Wan Po Road in Area 86 of Tseung Kwan O (TKO).
The double-arch steel bridge of CBL is about 200 metre long, which is the longest arch bridge in Hong Kong.

CBL will provide an alternative access route to the south-eastern part of TKO, thereby enhancing the road network of the area.
Upon completion of the project, traffic from the south-eastern part of TKO can commute to and from the western part of TKO via
CBL, or commute to and from Kowloon East via TKO-LTT, without travelling through Wan Po Road and TKO town centre. Hence,
the traffic load to these roads could be relieved.

This technical visit will begin with a brief introduction of the CBL project and followed by a virtual tour. The technical visit will be
concluded by a Q&A session hosted by the project team and the HKIE Civil Division site visit reporters. All the presentation, site
visit and the Q&A session will be conducted on the webinar platform.
