Activity title: Read Picture Books “ Eating the Alphabet.”

Desired Outcome/Goal: Students will read a picture book sequence with 70% accuracy
throughout five trials as measured by instructor observation and student work samples.

Appropriate age level: Kindergarten- First Grade

Description of activity: The students will be given the "Eating the Alphabet" picture book. The

students will have to do a read-aloud and work and groups. Each student will be making finger

puppets of the food that is presented in the book. This will be building language skills

development. Children learn to identify sounds and patterns in spoken language as they begin to

talk and construct sentences.


Steps to accomplish this activity:

1. Each student will be introduced to the book “ Eating the Alphabet.”


2. The teacher will read the text out loud so the children can get a feel of the book.
3. The teacher will put the students into groups to read the text aloud and make finger
puppets of food presented in the book.
4. Each group will have to present to the class their finger puppets
5. The goal is to have fun and learn

Materials Needed:
1. Book provided
2. Scissors
3. Glue
4. Human Fingers
5. Soft, colorful cloth
