Grade: Pre-kindergarten

Section 1: Physical Environment

A. Equipment

1. Indoors consist of two large hallways. In those hallways are all the classrooms from

infants to school age children.

2. Outdoors consist of two playgrounds. One for the younger children and the one for the

older. Some equipment that can be found on the playground include balls, bicycles etc.

B.: Room Arrangement:

The classroom is set up so that it flows easily. Meaning that by the door there is the table where

they do work and next to it is the carpet where they do circle time every morning.

C. There are a couple centers in the class. The first one is the library. Another is the kitchen

where they play. A third center would be art where they make art projects with the teacher.

Finally, the block center where they play with blocks.

Section 2:

A. Philosophy

1. The teacher's philosophy focuses on being direct and staying on top of them. Meaning

that she informs her students of her and classroom expectations and in return they are

expected to follow them. She does not allow them to misbehave often. For example, if

one of her students is not following directions, she immediately redirects them.

2. the school statement is Educational Childcare

B: Goals

1. since it was pre-k the goal was to get them used to a routine and prepare them for

kindergarten. In addition, they were also taught basic concepts such as the days of the

week, the months, numbers and shapes.

2. The classroom goals consisted of getting the children used to following

directions which included standing in line and listening to the teachers’ directions.

C. Every month the teacher must make her lesson plans using the standards and concepts

involved with that week or month. For example, for presidents she focused her lesson on

learning about the previous presidents among other related concepts.

D. To accommodate different learning styles in her classroom the teacher would provide

them with extra time as well as give them other accommodations.

Section 3: Guidance
A. Routines

1. In the morning after breakfast the students would do circle time which consisted of

going over the days of the week, the weather and the shape and word of the week.

2. In the afternoon they did different centers with rotations every fifteen minutes.

B. Classroom Rules:

1. One class rule was to use walking feet. This was one of the rules that the kids needed

constant reminder of.

2. Another rule was to use kind words. The way the teacher handled this rule was that she

would redirect them and talk to them about their word choices.

c. Teacher Interactions:

1. with her students the teacher was always direct but not necessarily strict. Meaning that

she would talk to them but in a mature way.

2, In addition, she would always treat them with respect. For example, if a child did

something wrong, she would listen to their side of the story.

3. Furthermore, in her classroom everyone was an equal. Meaning that everyone would

have the same number of opportunities. One example would be her class line leader since

she picked a different child every day.

d. Guidance Techniques:

1. Most of her techniques consisted of redirection. This was what worked best for her.

Another would be talking about the child's feelings. For example, if a student was not

following directions, she would have a conversation with him asking questions such as

why you feel this way etc.

3. Finally, her students were constantly reminded to make good choices.
