Dear Parent/Carer,

This term in Science, students have been exploring properties of materials

and how their physical properties can influence their use. To enable
students to investigate and analyse a range of materials most suitable for packaging breakable objects, a
hands-on authentic STEM event will be run during Week 7 this term.

The Package it Better STEM event will provide students with the opportunity to work collaborative and use
critical and creative thinking to apply their existing knowledge when designing, constructing and testing
different packaging options. During this event, students will be able to engage with real life STEM experts
to ask questions and receive assistance when constructing their designs.

The event will take place on the School Oval on the 20 th of May, 2021 from 9:30am – 10:30 am. Australia
Post has been willing to sponsor this event and have provided the school with the majority of resources
required, however, we ask that each child brings a gold coin donation on the day to help with the cost of
other materials needed to run this event.
