A letter to the Governor of Plateau state

Dear Lalong

It's been six months since you were sworn Governor of Plateau state and more since you won the elections. I remember hearing you speak about the terrible shape of things in the state during the campaigns with mainly broad solutions to them.

In your first days in office, you investigated the financial excesses of your predecessor and demanded that stolen funds be remitted. I believe it's high time to make a case against him in the courts.

Among the many uncompleted projects of the past administration you've made effort to ensure that some work goes on. However some are still "in the pipeline". The state's outstanding wage bill has been reduced with federal government's bailout

funds but many workers are yet to receive their full benefits.

A lot hasn't been done in regards to education, health, security, agriculture, infrastructure and Revenue. The deficiencies in these sectors require more than a "cut and nail" approach rather a coherent and systematic one. Initiatives like the TSA which

have been introduced at the federal should be adopted by the state. The government of plateau should open up to encourage accountability and transparency. The state assembly should not have to demand for an account of bailout funds, your

administration should publish necessary financial reports publicly.

Sir, the people of plateau state celebrated your victory with bottles of "33 - Export" while JIB rusts in the shadows. Your plan for manufacturing will be futile without a strong team of commissioners and advisers. Like in your favourite sport, the golfer

is only as good as his caddie. Unfortunately you lack one. Even slow "Baba Buhari" has gone far in setting up his own.

Time is ticking, history won't be kind to you if you don't take the state to better frontiers. Plateau people are anxious for "Change" and they will keep on changing until they get their change.

God bless you and Plateau state
