Context of the English on Colombia.

Be bilingual is important in this age where everybody are more connected, where we can

break barriers, comprehend better others cultures, traditions, customs and the most

important better our quality of life getting better opportunities of job, according to some

studies bilingualism in Colombia has been growing but still it´s found in levels lows almost

the 80% of people it doesn´t know speak another language and 10 % of the people manage

another language but with a lot of problems such as listening, vocabulary or pronunciation,

and the rest of the people know manage very good others languages such as French,

English and Portuguese so there has to take measures to rise the levels of the Colombians,

but what strategies are taking our government in the learning and the teaching of a new

language.

In Colombia there are different strategies based on the CEF (Common European

framework) than has been influencing in schools, universities, idioms center and the

different courses in the country, one of the strategies most important is the National

program of bilingualism where it is focused on all the scholar population, bilingual schools

and indigenous population, besides of promote and incentive the bilingualism thus as well

like influence in the different test of the state (ICFES-SABER).

Our country where the teaching of English Is hard not just for the access and the few

interest for people and the last governments, now the government has been more focused

and has achieved move forward in the teaching of a new language based on CEF

implementing others strategies of itself for achieve a better national competence and global.
