Introduction

2 Introduction
SPC Com XT is an IP alarm receiver that enables a CMS (Central Monitoring
Station) to receive alarms from SPC panels over an IP network. Alarm information
can be then be transmitted from SPC Com XT to an alarm management software
solution, via a Sur-Gard interface.
SPC Com XT also offers a client application that enables a CMS operator to
monitor and verify alarms and remotely control the SPC panel. Using a flexible
graphical user interface, operators can build a hierarchical estate view of the panel
installations and display details of each panel’s configuration and alarm events as
they occur in real time.
SPC Com XT can verify these alarms using live audio and video images or pre and
post event audio and video recordings which are transmitted from the panel over
an IP network. The SPC panel installation uses audio keypads and expanders and
video camera equipment to capture images and sounds from designated
‘verification zones’ which are then transmitted to SPC Com XT using the EDP or
FlexC communication protocols.

3 Licensing
The number of clients and panel connections supported by the SPC Com XT
software is governed by the terms of the license purchased.
To install your license file, you need to complete the following two steps:
1. After purchasing SPC Com XT and an associated license, you must contact
Siemens and provide the MAC address of the PC where the SPC Manager is
installed, see Retrieving a MAC Address [➙ 7].
2. On receipt of a MAC address, Siemens will provide you with the specific
license file associated with the purchase of the product, see Installing a
License File [➙ 7].
You can enter ipconfig /all at the command prompt on the server PC to list the
MAC address (Physical Address).

6 Connecting to a Panel
In most cases, the engineer install the panel first before the SPC Com XT operator
commissions and connects to the panel in SPC Com XT. In some cases, the
operator manually adds the panel to SPC Com XT before the engineer installs and
commissions the panel.
The operator can commission installed panels in SPC Com XT by using the
following two methods:
Automatically discover panels on the network and accept the panels in SPC
Com XT.
Manually add panels in SPC Com XT.
The operator can also add panels in SPC Com XT before the engineer installs and
commissions the panels on site.
The SPC Account Code for each panel must be agreed and passed to the
operator before the operator adds panels in SPC Com XT. The SPC Account
Code must also be entered in each panel when installing and commissioning
each panel.
The following table shows the main information that you enter to commission a
panel in SPC Com XT:
Field Description
Account Code The number that uniquely defines the panel to the RCT (1-
99999999, 0 = Auto assign).
When commissioning an installed panel, the Account Code is
provided by the panel and shown in SPC Com XT, or changed
from zero by the operator.
When commissioning a panel before the engineer installs the
panel, the operator enters the Account Code in SPC Com XT. This
Account Code must also be entered in the panel.
Registration Id The unique registration ID of the ATS allows the panel to be
uniquely identified at the RCT.
When commissioning an installed panel, the Registration Id is
provided by the panel and shown in SPC Com XT.
When commissioning a panel before the engineer installs the
panel, the Registration Id is either entered in SPC Com XT,
provided by the panel, or populated in SPC Com XT when the
panel comes on-line.
Encryption Key 64 hex digits.
When commissioning an installed panel, the default Encryption
Key is sent to SPC Com XT by the panel and then changed
automatically by the panel. Alternatively, the engineer can enter an
Encryption Key and pass the key to the operator to enter in SPC
Com XT.
When commissioning a panel before the engineer installs the
panel, the default Encryption Key is provided by the panel when
the panel comes on-line. The Encryption Key is then changed
automatically by the panel.
Encryption Password The Encryption Password is an optional item that is used to
provide increased security during initial ATP commissioning. The
Encryption Password must be entered at the SPT and RCT
independently.
When commissioning an installed panel, the Encryption Password
is only required if the engineer specified an Encryption Password
during the installation and commissioning of the panel. This
Encryption Password must be passed to the operator to enter in
SPC Com XT.
