Sa=> Mending Woolen Socks How to prepare machine: Darning foot and darning plate Needle No. 11 or 12 (also 14is right) Stitch length 0 Thread tension 14 Thread: Darning thread on top and on bebbin. % Procedure: Thread the mending wool through the little ring of the damning foot from the top (from right to left). Fasten wool with a few stitches on to sock on left side of hole. Guido wool over jo other side, sich across, needle in front of wool, fasten with a fow stiches, and continue in this way until hole is covered. (It is advisable to keep needle in sock whea turning wool from one side to the otter). Do not stretch sock, but keep wool tight and straight. After hole is covered finish with thread only, moking rows of small darning stiche ‘across the wool. Procedure: Stretch material well in hoop, right side up. When sewing at edge of material stretch ‘well by hand. Guide material slowly and let machine run fairly fast in order to obtain small and very regular stiches. Lower thread has to cover upper thread.
