PROJECT 1

DUE 9/1 IN CLASS:

Please choose one of the options below and write 300 words
addressing the topic presented. Please include an image with
your submission, either printed and attached to your 300 words,
or emailed to drose@nvcc.edu. You may not write on works in your
book or discussed in class.

I would like 3-4 volunteers to present their selections

informally and briefly at the beginning of the class (for extra
credit in participation). If you are willing, please email to
let me know and include your image so I can display it for you.

1. Find a work of art created for one of the purposes we

discussed in class (and which are discussed in your text,
pages 5-16) and describe its nature and qualities.

2. Find an image or symbol from contemporary culture (e.g.

American iconography) and describe its nature and purpose.

3. Find a work of art that is beautiful or one that is ugly

and discuss its aesthetic qualities (text pages 20-21).

4. Select a work of art and discuss its form and content (text
pages 34-36).
