1866. It has over 2000 brands and 447 factories in 189 countries with approximately 291,000
employees around the world. Nestle group posses the largest nutrition research labs in
Switzerland and over 30 R&D centres worldwide because of their new product development and
R&D. It became a top competitor with an overall sales of $100 billion in 2011 in foods and
beverages. In 1912, Nestle was founded as an Anglo-Swiss Condensed MilkCompany in Penang,
Malaysia. After that, the company expanded to Kuala Lumpur in 1939 because of its growth and
expansion (Nestle in Malaysia, 2019). Nestle was registered under the main market of Bursa in

EMIS”,2019). At present, Nestle Malaysia has over 5000 employees in 6 factories and produces
and sells more than 500 halal-certified products nationwide as well as over 40 Muslim countries
(Nestle in Malaysia,2019; Nestle Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., 2019). Nestles hired local regional workers to
manage the company because they understand the local market’s culture than foreign workers
and it works within the liquid milk industry ("Nestle's Competetive Strategy", n.d.). In addition, it
produces a varirty of products that are suitable for every region with best quality, nutrition and
taste. and favourite brands among Malaysians such as Milo, Nescafé, Maggi, Kit Kat, Healthcare
Nutrition and Chilled Dairy, as well as pet foods such as Purina and Friskies, etc ("Nestlé in
Malaysia", 2019).
