Nature Tour HAVO TÜRK

On the last Friday of September we had a trip to Oandu. We gathered with our
group in front of Sagadi manor under the bell tower. The weather was beautiful, the
mood was good and the hike towards Oandu could begin.
We moved from the buildings of Sagadi manor to the largest alder trees in Estonia.
The Sagadi-Oandu forest stories introduced us to folklore, legends and fairy tales
related to the forest. There are 18 “story books” on the forest storytelling trail, where
you can read fairy tales or listen to them in Estonian and English using a QR-code.
Wild fairies, ghosts, the most aquatic and the worm king, talking animals and birds,
a money hole and a fern blossom – on the trail you can find out what people say about
them.
The trail runs along the old village, it goes along the bank of a small river and then
trough old pine and spruce forests. Finally, the trail reaches an old meadow where hay
barns have been restored. The trail ends at the edge of the Oandu Visitor Center yard.
After lunch we visited the museum of forest history. After that we heard wood
nuthatch and woodpeckers pecking. I photographed a small frog on the bank of a
small river. We found several mushrooms by the forest paths: cold mushrooms,
chanterelles, parasol mushrooms, yellow foots, fly amanitas. We picked more gipsy
mushrooms before going home.
The day was long and tiring but wonderful.
