Being in the presence of oneself – a practical activity [ 5

minutes ]

Make yourself comfortable, close your eyes, and turn your gaze
to your mind. Yes, you can do that, did you know?

You may see thoughts, or perhaps some silence, but you will
surely realize that SOMETHING in you is observing an inner
landscape.

In the same way you could turn your attention, your inner gaze
towards the center of your chest, the so-called solar plexus, and
you can savor some emotion passing by, that warm or
uncomfortable feeling dwelling in our chest.

Whether or not there is an emotion to observe, there is still

that SOMETHING that is observing.

With your eyes still closed, you can also turn your attention to
your body, see how you are sitting. Is there any strain, or
tension, can you feel the pressure of the chair on your legs?
That SOMETHING that is looking is still there. It is silent. We call
it the Observer.

Now try to turn the look towards the OBSERVER itself. and you
will savour a subtle sensation; you are feeling a part of yourself
that perhaps you did not know, but at the same time is …
familiar.

Do not lose this feeling, please cling to it.

You feel “present”, you have no doubt that you exist. In this
moment, you are Real. Your Essence, also called our “Divine
Spark” is the only part of us that has the ability to observe
consciously the other parts of the Universe, starting from the
small Universe that is our body. When our Essence is active, one
of the most notable effects is that we are awake, in the here
and now. More on this later.

Now you know what Self-remembering is. Instead of a formal

definition, I prefer you to have a taste, a sensation, because it
does not allow misunderstandings.
