SUBTRACTION

Eliminate Buckle and Add a Hook: It is seen that sometimes when you are sitting, the
buckle pokes the body, which makes it very uncomfortable to sit. Also, sometimes the buckle
creates a bulge if you are wearing a T-shirt that is not tucked in. This idea is to eliminate the
buckle and replace it with a simple hook ( maybe a thumb hook or a J hook) to resolve this
issue.

MULTIPLICATION

Playing along the width of the belt to convert it to a rope (Multiplication): Using one
single piece of 1.25 cm width and 1 cm thickness belt (Cloth) strap, stitching it along the
width will increase the width to desired size (1.25X cm). Later, the strap material could be
untangled and convert to be a rope.

DIVISION

Embedding a detachable pouch to the belt - Adding a waterproof detachable pouch that
can fit in a phone and can also be used as a standalone. Convenience to the user to have their
hands free in a situation where the phone is not necessary.

TASK UNIFICATION

Buckle with a lock: Adding a number lock in the buckle would enable the user to use the
belt as a chain lock for our luggage. As one end with the lock can be attached to the luggage
and the other end to any fixed support. So, when travelling and about to sleep, you can just
take out the belt and use it as a chain lock instead to keep your luggage safely.

Radium Straps (dog collars for stray animals): Adding Radium to the belt material will
make it glow in the dark and can be used as a new generation (informal) Trend. Also, a
similar material could be done to the material of dog collars, which can identify stray animals
during the night on highways.

Use belt as a measurement tool, designing an inch tape or measurement markings in the
inside part of the belt for the construction workers, tailors etc.

ATTRIBUTE DEPENDENCY CHANGE

Adding skins to the belt to match it with the shoe colour: Adding portable thin skins to the
belt to match it with the trendy/neon colour of the shoes to enhance the overall look

Synectics
There are ropes available in the market which
have hooks attached on both ends. These
ropes can be tie anywhere inside the house or Distant Analogy
outside. Also, these ropes are stretchable.
Tape is used to join/hold things together.
We can design belts on the same principle. Similarly, belt can also be used to

at both ends. The belt can be wear around the
waist and the hooks can be coupled to the When using carton we need tape to join

material is intact inside serving the same
purpose.

Brainstorming
1. Keeping the shirt tucked in via adding additional hooks to the belt that can be
clamped directly with the shirt

2. Adding a Panic button in the belt which can trigger SOS in our smartphones and alert
the emergency contacts. The button may also switch on the GPS in smartphones so
that the location can be traced just like 'Find my Device' in Apple Products.

3. A buckle that has a LED screen, which indicates our waist size and warns us if our
posture is not upright.

4. Stress Buster Buckle (Boomerang, Fidget Cube, spinner): Designing Buckles, which
can easily be detached and can be used as a Stress Buster device.
5. For the people who travel on Cycles or two-wheelers at night, small LEDs can be
attached to the belt so that they are visible from far. This can reduce the probability of
accidents where there are no street lights.
6. An LED can also be placed in the buckle, which will work as a torch and guide the
cyclists  in rural/suburban areas where there are still no street lights

7. An automatically adjustable belt can be designed, which adjusts its length while we
are standing and sitting because it happens many a time that we loosen our belt a bit
when we sit as compared to when we were standing. Also, this belt will automatically
loosen up when we have finished up with our meal and will again tighten up after
some time.

8. Belt with Holster attached to it: This can be done for those who are serving in forces.
These persons need to carry arms most of the time when they are on duty, and while
dressing up what happens, Holster needs to be adjusted in the belt. So to resolve this
belt with Holster attached to it can be designed, which will take away the problem of
making daily adjustments. Also, the trousers of the uniform have only three loops;
therefore, the belt can be put in from both sides simultaneously, and it won't cause a
problem to wear a belt with a holster attached to it.
