Kaga Bandoro is a market town and capital of Nana-Grebizi which is one of the 16

prefectures of the Central African Republic. The total area covered by this market town is
67 km2 (26 sq. mi) and its elevation to ground is 403 m (1,322 ft). The total population of
Kaga Bandoro is AROUND 27,797 with respect to the 2012 reports. According to the
Koppen-Gieger climate classification system the climate of this market town has been
classified as tropical wet and dry. There are over 70 languages that are spoken in the Central
African Republic but the official language is French and Sango.
In Kaga Bandoro, Muslims and Christians continue living side by side albeit, under a huge
amount of pressure and various circumstances. The Internally Displaced People (IDP) camp
in Kaga Bandoro is filled with Christians and Muslims who have lost everything and are
trying to find some semblance of a peaceful existence while healing from the atrocities
they’ve experienced. With the help of different programs sponsored by different countries
worldwide the children of Kaga Bandoro have a safe space in which they can learn, sing,
dance and enjoy other playful activities alongside uninterrupted education. The new Kaga
Bandoro school, supported in part with funding from Education Cannot Wait, has 11 classes
and 1,675 registered children.

Central African cuisine includes the cuisines, cooking traditions, practices, ingredients and


foods of the Central African Republic (CAR). Indigenous agriculture in the country includes
millet, sorgum, banana, yam, okra, yellow onion, garlic, spinach, rice and palm oil.
Imported crops of American origin include maize, manioc, peanuts, chili peppers, sweet
potato and tomato. Additional foods include onion, garlic, chilies and peanuts. Meats can be
scarce, although fish is used in a variety of dishes, and other sources
of protein include peanuts and insects such as cicadas, grasshoppers, crickets and termites.
Roadside stalls sell foods such as baked goods and makara (a type of fried bread),
sandwiches, barbecued meat and snacks.
The clothing in Central African Republic is mostly represented by button up shirts, t-shirts,
shorts, and slacks for the men and colorful robes, headscarves, and bright jewelry for the
women.
