Career Research Essay

Social workers are often involved in teaching people about resources and how to
develop particular skills. Some of these skills include budgeting, the caring discipline of
children, effective communication, the meaning of a medical diagnosis, and the
prevention of violence.
Although social work involves a great deal more than interviewing, social workers
spend more time in interviewing than in any other single activity. It is the most important
and most frequently used social work skill.
At minimum, social workers need a bachelor's degree from an accredited
college. Employers often prefer social workers who hold master's degrees. All clinical
social workers must hold a master's degree. Keep reading this page to learn how to
become a social worker, including the benefits of licensure and certification. University
of Arizona in particular offers great social work courses.
Some other careers related to social work include: health educators and
community health workers, marriage and family therapists, probation officers and
correctional treatment specialists, psychologists, rehabilitation counselors, school and
career counselors.

Overall I think social work is a good fit for me. Social workers help relieve
people's suffering, fight for social justice, and improve lives and communities. Lots of
social workers make big impacts on people’s lives for the better.
