Q1: What are propositions? Give three definitions and 4 examples to explain.

Ans: Proposition: -

1: This kind of a Sentences are called Propositions.

If it is true then we say it has a truth value of “true” and if it (proposition) is “ false” then..

For example : “grass is green”

5+2 =5 are the propositions.

2: proposition is distinct from other sentences that not true or false such as

Question, commands, and exclamations, all of the following are examples of propositions:

“Bob bought a new car.” “ U.S holds presidential elections every four years.”

Q2: Give examples for conditional and bi-conditional statements.

Bi-conditional statement:

This is a combination of a conditional statement and its converse written in the if and only if form.

Two line segments are congruent if and only if they are of equal length.

Conditional statement:

If the polygon has four sides then the polygon is a quadrilateral.

If the quadrilateral has four congruent sides and angles, then the quadrilateral is a square.

Q3: Define set? Draw Venn diagram and explain.

SET: Any collection of objects which may be mathematical ie. Numbers, functions.

For example the set of integers from 1 to 100 is finite, but on the other side the set of all integer is finite.

P = { 0, 1, 2, 3 }  and   Q = { 8, 9, 10 }
