Scenario

As a Media Producer, you must create a Careers Portfolio that shows an understanding of the Media
Industries you are seeking employment in. The portfolio must include the following:

Provide casework on three Creative Media Companies including Regional, National & Multi-National
examples. You should also Cross Reference to Unit 8 Understanding the Television and Film Industries
- Year 1

Evidence of research for a minimum of 3 vacancies for prospective employment and training in your
intended profession. A clear description of the job roles involved in these 3 posts (management;
creative; technical; research; administrative) and the working patterns. (Shift work; fixed term; office
hours; freelance; irregular patterns; hourly rates; piece work) Try to ensure that the vacancies are in
different areas with different working patterns. Choose realistic vacancies that explore your own
career development from completion of your NDMP. Your research should also show an awareness and
understanding of types of contracts of employment and legal and ethical constraints that could affect
your working life.

You must write up an industry Curriculum Vitae using – www.linkedin.com and produce a short show
reel and/or portfolio of your work for distribution to prospective employers, clients or colleges.
These self-promotional materials should highlight your skills, abilities, achievements and creativity.
Reference your completed UCAS, CAO or HND Application listing your education, training and skills
development including your personal skills, technological skills, training needs and personal
development plan.
Ensure you have referenced all sources of information/Training provided including guest speakers,
workshops attended, (Curriculum Project events), Industry visits and Erasmus opportunities where
applicable.
