Knowledge and Skills

(1) Developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking,


discussion and thinking-oral language. The students develop oral language through
listening, speaking and discussion.
(D) Work collaboratively with others by following agreed-upon rules for
discussion, including listening to others, speaking when recognized, and making
appropriate contributions.

What the Knowledge and Skills statement means that students will be developing
language skills that will include listening, speaking, discussion and thinking skills.
Once these skills are taught and learned students will then use these skills to
collaborate with one another to discus and talk about what is being taught.

Writing Objectives:
Students will be able to develop oral language through listening, speaking and
discussion.
Students will be able to explain each of the oral language skills they have learned
and how to use them properly.
Students will work collaboratively with others and will use discussion, listening,
and speaking while making contributions about a text topic.
