Each capacitor unit is composed of en ‘assembly of capacitor elements connected in series. ‘A capacitor element consists of two electrodes (aluminium foil), separated by a mixed dielectric (film ~ paper ~ film). The elements are impregnated with synthetic liquid. From the electrical point of view, the capacitor divider is composed of a high voltage capacitor C1 and an intermediate voltage capacitor C2. C2 is located in the bottom of the bottom unit when the CVT is having more than one module The electromagnetic unit, connected between the intermediate voltage terminal and the earth terminal of the capacitor divider, comprises essentially: - a medium voltage transformer - a compensating inductance - a damping device The EMU is immersed in insulating oil and enclosed in an airtight metallic tank. The bottom capacitor unit is installed on the cover of the tank and is connected to the EMU through a tight bushing. ‘The other units are assembled on the bottom capacitor unit and connected in series. The adjustments of the transformer and the inductance with the capacitor divider are carried out in factory to answer the required specifications and do not have to be modified. The tank should not be open without particular precautions and the taking away of oil is forbidden without the agreement of ALSTOM. :Correr blocking device Reactor Voltage limiter device Primary transformer S: Secondary transformer D: Damping device 'N: Low voltage terminal ofthe electromagnetic unit HE: Low voltage terminal ofthe capacitor unit T: Ground terminal F: Fuse (ca: Capacitr divider (2: Capacitr divider civ | ALSTOM ‘ALSTOM TaD INDIA LIMITED (TR) instruction Manual For CVT & CC Creation date: 22/02/2012 pev:00 Neevr-IM-02 age 5/39 Drawn / Checked: MN /VSN 12 CROSS SECTION (Typical 800kV CVT) — [S.No DESCRIPTION | 1__| HN. Connections All electrical connections should be checked periodically and tightened wit charging. Keep all terminals and other parts, clean and free from corrosion. If it is necessary to remake connections this should be done in accordance with the recommendation in the Section “Handling and mounting”. 7.3. Column impregnant. The insulating liquid used in capacitive columns is based on synthetic aromatic hydrocarbons (type M/DBT according to IEC 867). This kind of impregnant guarantees very high dielectric performances but is vety sensitive to atmospheric moisture. Consequenty, in order to keep the Volume of the liquid adjusted to the temperature, capacitor voltage transformers are equipped ‘with a stainless steel bellows. This minimizes exchanges between the impregnant and the ambient atmosphere. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO DRAW SAMPLES FROM THE CAPACITOR UNIT. cao | ALSTOM ‘AISTOM T&D INDIA LIMITED (ITR) Instruction Manual For CVT & CC Creation date: 22/02/2012 Rev: 00 NT CVT-IM- 03 Page 16/19 Drawn / Checked: MN /VSN Following the principle of its functioning, the cell exer's 2 slight pressure on the column.
