Internal Assessment – Introduction

The introduction is marked out of 16. It should be no more than 200 words.

1. Clearly EXPLAIN the theme of your research as well as the purpose (why is the research

being done – always a verb…to inform, educate etc.).

2. Explain how the theme was brought out in the exposition (speech) – (what did you do to

adequately bring across your theme to your audience in your speech?). Also, explain how

the theme was brought out in the Reflective piece (story, poem etc.) (What did the main

character or persona do to bring out the theme?) Was your purpose achieved through

these two sections?

3. Clearly explain how the theme relate to your academic interests – what subject/s are you

doing? How will knowing about this theme help you in those subject areas?

4. Clearly explain how the theme relate to your work-related – what do you want to

become? How will your knowledge of this theme help you in your career?

5. Clearly explain how the theme relate to your personal interest – of all the topics, why did

you choose this topic? Why did it appeal to you? Were you (personally) affected by the

problem? Family member affected?
