its not really that good? like as a piece of filmmaking? its very all over the place and
messy, and if I didn't already have all the information I came in with, I'd have no idea
precisely what this is "about" through 2 episodes
like yeah, its about Michael Jordan and the Bulls, but what is it about thematically? What
is the filmmaker trying to speak to me about? I have no idea

It does jump all over the place chronologically. From the first episode I thought it was
going to be focusing on just the last year, then from the second episode it opened up on
Scottie and his journey, so I thought maybe this was going to be Scottie’s episode, but
then it went back to jumping around with MJ’s childhood. I’m not super familiar with the
years of the Bulls era because it was when I was really young. I had to look up MJ’s draft
year when they switched to his 2nd year on the Bulls in the second episode, after going
into Pippen’s draft year. I didn’t really know the timeline.
That being said, I’m enamoured by every minute of the episodes. I’m deeply fascinated
and I don’t care where the timeline takes me, I just love hearing about it all.

I’m a massive film nerd, and always super critical at documentaries. This is one of the
most well done docs I’ve seen in a while.
It’s presenting the info in a non-linear manner, but it’s not unclear what’s going on. It’s
pretty obviously had a main focus each episode.
Thematically? They’re speaking to us about the final Bulls season, and the events
leading up to it. That’s all, and that’s fine. It’s a sports documentary, not a Bergman or
Tarkovsky film. There doesn’t have to be some underlying message or subliminal angle
or anything. It’s just an in-depth look at one of the greatest sports teams of all time.

Agreed. The bouncing around the timeline is awkward and there are no transitions. Also,
the set E2 like it’s Pippen’s episode only to revert back to Jordan the other half of the
show.
I’m hoping it gets better but as a 99s NBA fan (specifically the Bulls) I’m enjoying it
anyway.

How do people not get this? it's setting up backstory so that the 97-98 footage is even
more meaningful.
