BuckMeUp eliminates overpriced services by introducing merit-based pricing for freelance work

Vancouver, April 7th, 2014. Small business owners and freelancers can now meet in the world’s first
meritocratic marketplace on BuckMeUp.com. In a world in which everyone works in sales or non-sales selling,
BuckMeUp provides merit-based pricing to help small business owners get the best value for the services they
are buying, as well as helping freelancers differentiate themselves based on their talent and professionalism.

According to research firm IDC, by the end of 2015, the number of nontraditional workers worldwide
(freelancers, contractors, consultants) will reach 1.3 billion. We are witnessing a radical change in the way
services are bought and delivered and BuckMeUp is here to help the “non-employer” businesses navigate a sea
of offers and prices that rarely reflect the real value of a service.

BuckMeUp.com is an online marketplace for freelance talent where merit determines prices. The site uses a
proprietary pricing engine that adjusts the cost of services offered based on past buyer reviews. Clients rate
their freelancer’s work after each transaction is complete, which increases or decreases the service’s price for
future customers.

Talented freelancers now have a place to earn what they are worth. Instead of ruthless undercutting, services
are priced on merit alone. Sellers who excel in their profession enjoy a rising price, increased by buyers who
vouch for their work. The goal is to foster a meritocratic market for freelance talent where price truly reflects
value.

“Buyers 'buck up' the price for the service or drive it down depending on the quality of the finished product”,
says BuckMeUp founder Alym Amlani. “Clients boost a freelancer’s price if they believe the service should cost
more, or buck them down if they think the cost is too high for the results. They can also vote to maintain the
existing price.”

BuckMeUp is a Vancouver-based startup that provides freelance talent and small business owners a
meritocracy based marketplace dedicated to a broad range of services. Sellers’ work is being reviewed by
clients only at the end of the transaction, allowing freelancers to earn the right pay for their delivered work and
protecting buyers from paying too much for poor quality work.
