The concept I chose was teaching kindergarten students how to spell.

The reason I chose this concept is

because it is detrimental to know how to spell so that way the child can read and can communicate as
clear as possible. If kids did not have to learn how to spell, we would not be able to use books therefore
kids would have a lack of knowledge because they would be missing valuable information and being able
to spell is a part of cognitive development which would be stunted if they were not able to spell. I
choose kindergarten because that is when kids start learning how to spell and it is an important
milestone for their education. For the music category I chose to have the students listen to songs that
say how letters sound and basic words. This is a good strategy for students because when they hear
something multiple times they will start to remember and repeat what they hear therefore they will be
able to use what they hear multiple times to spell better, and it is also beneficial for auditory learners.
For the visual category I have the students pairing up and using magnetic letters on a board to spell
words from their spelling chart that they will get at the beginning of each week. This is beneficial for
students who are visual learners and kinesthetic learners because they can see and feel the letters while
spelling the word which will engage their attention more than a pencil and paper. For nature, the kids
will be able to go outside and have free time for 10 minutes to be able to look around and see or find
objects and print the name of the objects on a piece of paper. I chose this activity because the students
can apply their learning skills to real life objects that they see every day and get some fresh air. I chose
kinesthetic for one of my tic-tac-toe boxes and for that I have the students playing hot potato spelling.
The kids will play hot potato spelling by tossing around a soft ball while hot potato is being sung and
whenever the singing stops and the ball is caught by the last person that student will have to spell a
word I give them. This activity was created for kinesthetic learners who need a hands-on experience,
and this activity allows the students to have fun and be engaged while still applying what they learned.
The activity for interpersonal is the kids will be in groups of 5 and take turns saying 3 of their favorite
things which then their peers will write down the 3 things said, and this cycle will continue until
everyone gets a turn. We then will regroup as a class and I will take everyone's papers to see how
everyone did and we will all say our favorite thing and then spell it aloud. This activity was created so
that way the students could think independently but still collaborate. For intrapersonal the students will
be given a list every Monday of words to learn how to spell and on Fridays they will have a spelling test
over the list of words which then the students must evaluate the words by themselves to make sure
they got it correct. This activity allows students to independently study and check what they know at the
end of each week individually. The activity for verbal is that each student will individually come up to my
desk and I will give them a word which then they will have to spell out loud to me. This allows me to
help students one on one if they are having a challenging time or have any questions while making sure
they can audibly spell the words they see. Lastly, for logic the kids will have a work sheet that gives them
hints which they then will have to fill in the blank with the word that pertains to the hint. This activity
allows each individual to see if they can apply what they learned to information they already know and if
they can think logically using what they have learned about spelling. These activities were carefully
thought out and planned for each multiple intelligence category.
