This is going to be a short blog due to the fact that the students were testing for most of

this week. The English 3 Writing Local Performance Assessment that the students started last
Thursday lasted a week, so they did not finish until this Thursday. While the students were
testing Ms.Horner and I had a chance to discuss when I would create and teach my own lesson.
We decided that I will do a virtual lesson on April 14th on the Lady or the Tiger. I remember
reading The Lady or the Tiger when I was in Ms. Horner’s class so I am very excited to create a
fun, and interactive lesson for the students! I am also excited to teach a lesson plan on zoom,
since it has become such a big part of education during this past year. I am going to teach a face
to face lesson about the Monkey’s Paw, on April 23rd. I am going to use a pear deck to create
this lesson plan, which I am very excited about. Pear deck is a great resource to use, because it
allows the students who are face to face, and the students who are virtual to all participate. Pear
deck also allows the students to respond to all different types of questions, they can either be
short answers, multiple choice, or the students can draw their answers. Also, I am able to show
the class each other's responses on the board because it does not show their names, until I go
back into the Pear Deck to check after the lesson is over. I am extremely excited to teach both of
these lesson plans! This week I also completed my profiles for my portfolio. I completed a
portfolio about myself, one on VB Middle, and then I interviewed Ms. Horner, and completed a
profile about her! It was so much fun to learn more about VB Middle, the visual arts program
that they offer, and to learn more about Ms. Horner and her experiences in her 26 years of
teaching. This week I also revived the result from the Education Rising competition that I had
completed last week. I placed second in the state, which means I get to represent Virginia in the
National Competition! I also received feedback from the judges on what I can improve on, so I
can make improvements to my cover letter and resume, before I compete again. I am extremely
grateful for this amazing opportunity to compete in the national competition! I will not be
blogging next week, since I will be on Spring Break, so Happy Easter Everyone!
