LINDA WULANDARI. The Biogas from Cow Manure in Digester Balloon
Model (Supervised by TAMRIN LATIEF). The objective of this field practice was to learn about processing of cow manure into biogas at Experimental Stall. The field practice was conducted at Experimental Stall of Animanl Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from April 2nd, 2017 until May 9th, 2015. The methods used in this field practice were interview, direct observation, work practice, and literature related to field practice materials. The observation in this field practice was performed by observing the processing of cow manure into biogas. Biogas is gas produced by the anaerobic fermentation of organic matter with the help of methanogenic bacteria in which producing several gases including methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, oxygen, and hydrogen sulfide. The raw materials in this process included cow manure and water. Biogas production comprised of hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis and methanogenesis. The charging system into the digester feedstock used a continuous system. In this Experimental Stall of Animal Husbandry used digester Balloon Model. The digester was constructed on the yard around the cow shed. Biogas production is influenced by several important factors including the temperature, the ratio of carbon and nitrogen, acidity and uniformity of raw materials. The anaerobic fermentation produced methane gas which was used for cooking over gas stoves, practice and experiment of college student of Sriwijaya University. This biogas produces a blue flame. There were some factors that cloud influence the gas produced, such as the composition of the raw materials, the digester condition, and the leakage on the pipe system or digester. The by- products produced during biogas production was slurry which was used an organic fertilizer planted in Experimental Stall area.
